Adult Athlete Spotlight - June

Darryl Carter – Black Belt

What got you started in martial arts?  What keeps in involved?    What got me started was when I saw the matrix in year 2000. The martial arts demonstrated in that movie was top notch and peaked my overall curiosity. That curiosity sparked a 24-year passion that keeps me training to this day!

What's the most epic pre-competition meal you've ever had?  My pre-competition meal is all about keeping things fun and functional. That's why I turn to the Three R's: Rice Krispie Treat, Reese's Cup, and Reign energy drink.

Imagine you're giving a pep talk to your younger self just starting out in karate. What's the one piece of advice you'd give them?  Trust the process. Karate isn't a race to the finish line. It's a journey, a climb up a giant mountain. It'll take hard work, dedication, and maybe even some early mornings and late nights.  Win and learn. Allow the losses to restore and rebuild your ingenuity to win.
