Youth Athlete Highlight - September
Nathan McAllister – Black Belt
What got you started in martial arts? What keeps in involved? I was introduced to karate at the age of 5. Being the youngest of 10 siblings, it was a strategic move by my parents to teach their kindergartner how to play nice and channel my boundless energy. Martial arts have become an integral part of my life. It's more than just physical training; it's a mental journey. The discipline, focus, and self-control I've gained have had a profound impact on who I am today.
What's the most epic pre-competition meal you've ever had? I'll never forget the Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt from Panera Bread I had in Miami last November before a competition. It was the perfect fuel to power me through the day. 🔥
Imagine you're giving a pep talk to your younger self just starting out in karate. What's the one piece of advice you'd give them? Above all, pursue God. The lessons you learn in karate are not just about fighting; they are biblical principles that can guide you through life and bring you closer to God when applied correctly.
